Artist Statement I paint directly on paper, Masonite, or canvas, presenting each of the marks that I make as each breath I have taken. I set up my easel on site to see all subjects, whether they are a landscape, a portrait, or a still life; as they are. I paint what I see. It is an immediate environment. My work is an accumulation of passage, and of feeling.                                                              Isao Sanami Morrill
Denise’s work consists primarily of watercolors that reflect living along Baie Sainte-Marie. These works are rather traditional in imagery and suggest a collective sense of environment, culture and community. She also explores the expressive qualities of non- representational painting and printmaking. This work allows her to examine other facets of her culture and reflect on them in a more personal approach.
